Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires is a non-profit organization dedicated to comprehensive health care. Since 1853, it provides medical assistance, training undergraduate and graduate students, and conducts basic, clinical and population research. Each year, the Hospital has 2,300,000 outpatient visits, has 39,000 inpatients discharges and performs 37,000 surgical procedures in its 30 operating room. It has more than 600 beds for hospitalization - of which 200 are for critical care - and 800 beds for home medicine. Its workforce consists of 8,000 people: 2700 physicians, 3700 health staff members and 1800 people from the administrative sectors. From the point of view of care, the Italian Hospital offers more than 40 medical specialties, complete diagnostic and treatment equipment and a recognized professional staff. It also has its own university - which teaches Nursing, Medicine, Biochemistry and Pharmacy - and the Institute of Basic Sciences and Experimental Medicine.
