Be an Informed Patient

Be an Informed Patient

What is an informed patient? Informed patients are aware of their health care rights. They expect to build trustworthy and transparent relationships with their health care providers and they seek out the best possible care available. These patients place a high value on health care organizations that display a fervent commitment to patient safety and that ritually exercise adherence to these principles at every stage of care.

Although your health care provider plays a significant role in the outcomes of your care, you play an important role as well. Patients who are well informed are more likely to have a positive health care experience. Learn more about health care around the world here.

Value of JCI Accreditation

The Value of JCI Accreditation

Joint Commission International (JCI) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality and safety of patient care around the world. One way we improve global health care is by accrediting the small number of hospitals and health care organizations that are capable of meeting our demanding standards.

Each year hundreds of the world’s most prestigious and recognized hospitals undergo JCI’s comprehensive on-site survey and evaluation process to determine if they meet our demanding quality and patient safety standards. Only those that do are awarded our Gold Seal of Approval® and join the rest of our accredited organizations—all sharing a commitment to achieving the highest quality, patient-safe care possible.
